As therapists, we know we should assess for suicidality for each client every session, we ask the questions and secretly hope the client says no. We easily create session notes and treatment plans, but when we have a suicidal client in our office, our fear, worry, and anxiety shut off our logical brain, and we panic. We understand the seriousness of the situation; however, there are many myths about suicide, and we worry we might do the wrong thing.
There are many myths about suicide, and we agonize that we are not knowledgeable enough, and we are terrified of saying the wrong thing or worse yet not asking the right questions. We wonder what assessment to use; we ponder about our liability and where to send our client for more intensive services.
In this class, you will gain confidence in your abilities and know-how to keep your clients safe.
When Judy and Sherry heard that there was a new requirement for suicide assessment and intervention, they wanted to create a class that they would sit through and learn practical, valuable information. They didn’t want an instructor just to provide facts and scare them in actually what they should know. They wanted to create a class that was overflowing with useful information and would allow for participants to practice new skills in this training. This class will not be boring.
